Virtual Art Show 2020

Join us today as we celebrate the great art our students have created both in their homes and in their art classrooms this year.

When school came to a sudden halt in March, and all of the wonderful student work was left behind in the classrooms, our teachers quickly and creatively adjusted to a new way of teaching. The teachers proposed a challenge focused on the ephemeral, encouraging students to use objects found outside or in their homes to create things which only last a short amount of time, said Allison Ross, Coordinator of Visual Arts.

“We are very excited about elevating the work of our talented art students through this virtual art exhibit. We deeply appreciate the support of the parents and families who have helped their children connect to our art teachers and shared the great art that our students created at home over the past few months,’’ said Jeff Smith, MNPS Director of Visual and Performing Arts. “Thanks to our dedicated teachers who continue to connect with their students and provide learning opportunities in a remote learning environment. This exhibit would not be possible without their incredible work!”

“Through participation in art education our students are able to create, grow, heal, and communicate that which cannot be expressed in other ways. Please use the hashtag #ArtsMoveMNPS to share your arts stories and continue to support the artistic growth of children throughout MNPS. Our city and communities will be better for it!’’ Smith added.

Each artist is listed in this document available for download and shared online by grade level and school. Click the images below to begin your virtual tour.
