Get Involved

Family engagement has shifted to an integral part of education reform efforts. Our goal is to build conditions necessary to chart a path toward effective family engagement efforts that are linked to student achievement and school improvement. Metro Schools is excited to partner with you in your child's education.

The more involved you are in your child's education, the more successful your child will be. We value parents who can navigate multiple roles: Supporter, encourager, monitor, advocate, decision maker, collaborator.

Families are active participants in the life of the school, we want them to feel welcomed, valued, and connected to each other, to school staff, and to what students are learning and doing in class.

We support:

  • families and school staff engaging in regular, two-way, meaningful communication about student learning.

  • families and school staff continuously collaborating to support students’ learning and healthy development both at home and at school, having regular opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and skills to do so effectively.

  • families to be advocates for their own and other children, to ensure that students are treated fairly and have access to learning opportunities that will support their success.

  • 新皇冠体育盘口families and school staff being equal partners in decisions that affect children and families and together inform, influence, and create policies, practices, and programs.

新皇冠体育盘口From helping with special events (sports, school plays, school meetings), helping with community outreach or providing mentoring, tutoring, or support at the district and school front offices, there are many ways to get involved:

  • Attend a school, cluster or district Parent University event.

  • Some of our schools have the WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads of Great Students) K-12 program, which invites fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures to volunteer at least one day all day at their child’s/student's school during the school year. The program is overseen by a “Top Dog” volunteer who partners with the school administrator to coordinate scheduling and identify opportunities for Watch D.O.G.S. to provide assistance at the school.

Family Engagement Survey
