Staying healthy

Metro Schools works closely with the to monitor flu-like symptoms among students and staff at our schools and works to prevent the spread of viruses. We follow guidelines and best practices to help ensure our students and staff are healthy and safe.

Students with Symptoms

新皇冠体育盘口Students who exhibit symptoms such as a fever and cough should be kept home by their parents, and all illness-related absences will be excused. Parents should not send their children back to school until they are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine. Parents should contact their schools for further guidance or support.

School staff will work with families to provide lessons and homework in the case of extended absences due to self-isolation or quarantine.

Metro Schools sent all staff instructional information that can be used to help teach students the importance of the precautions to reduce the spread of germs and viruses.

Travel Plans?

  • 新皇冠体育盘口Older adults and people of any age with serious chronic medical conditions are at increased risk for severe disease and should consider postponing nonessential travel.

  • Travelers should avoid contact with sick people and wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • 新皇冠体育盘口Travelers should monitor their health and limit interactions with others for 14 days after returning from travel.

  • Travelers that are sick with fever, cough, or have trouble breathing should stay home and call ahead before seeking medical care.

What you can do

新皇冠体育盘口The Centers for Disease Control recommends everyone take actions to help prevent the spread of illness and respiratory viruses, including:

  • Washing hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds per wash. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

  • 新皇冠体育盘口Covering coughs or sneezes with a tissue and throwing the tissue away.

  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces.

  • 新皇冠体育盘口Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth before washing hands.

  • 新皇冠体育盘口Staying home if sick. Do not return to work until no symptoms are present for 24 hours.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Bump fists or elbows instead of shaking hands to reduce contact and spread of germs.
